Gideon was a son of Pieter Van Aaken and Rutsjen Dame, baptized 19 October 1718. The baptism of Gidion Van Aaken was recorded in the Reformed Dutch Church of Kingston, New York.[1]

The names of Gideon, his father, and three brothers appear on the list of the members of the Foot Company of Militia of the Corporation of Kinston, under the command of Capt. Both Gideon and Maria were "born and resid. under the jurisdiction of Kinstown." Domine Vas, who married them, had registered their banns on 23 November 1740.[3]

Van Aken-284 and Van Aken-26 appear to represent the same person because:

see post Ellen.. :)

See post at duplicate Gideon Van_Aken-26 , he was added as son of Pieter van Aken and Claartjen Coppijns, so perhaps and indeed , see Ellens post at the duplicate, this was just a mix up and he ended up being attached to the wrong parents ?

See my comment on Van Aken-26. I believe that Van Aken-284 is connected to the wrong parents, so I am disconnecting the profile from Van Aken-61 and Coppijns-1.

Van Aken-284 and Van Aken-26 appear to represent the same person because: I believe that the unsourced Van Aken-284 profile is attached to the wrong Pieter Van Aken as father, due to an unsupported misconception that Pieter Van Aken was the immigrant ancestor of the Van Aken family. Gideon Van Aken-26 is the son of a different Pieter Van Aken. The source cited for https://www.wikitree.com/photo/jpg/Van_Aken-61 -- the image of the house that Gideon built in Ulster County, New York -- erroneously identifies Gideon as the son of the immigrant ancestor. Seeing that error, I believe that Van_Aken-284 is intended to represent the very same person as Van_Aken-26.
